We are looking for someone able to work this set schedule: Mondays, 4-8 pm; Tuesdays, 9:30 am – 2 pm; Wednesdays, 9:30 am – 2 pm; and Thursdays, 4-8 pm. There may be additional hours if another employee is sick or takes vacation.

Beginning salary is $9.50/hour, increasing to $10.00 after the 90-day probationary and training period, with gradual pay raises available following review.

A background check is required prior to employment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Waiting on patrons at the circ desk: answering questions, helping patrons find items, and assisting with checkout
  • Retrieving items from the drop box (stairs and lifting involved), processing courier materials, shelving returns, and finding paging slip items
  • Assisting patrons with basic technology-related questions
  • Assisting the children’s librarian with craft preparation
  • Working with patrons of all ages in a friendly and professional manner
  • Light cleaning

Qualifications:

The candidate must have a high school diploma and be 18 years or older.  Associates degree or post graduate coursework preferred, but not required.  We are looking for someone who resides in the Colfax area who has good writing and speaking skills, enjoys reading, likes people, and has experience in customer service. We need someone who is comfortable on a computer, though we will teach you all the specifics about the system the library uses. We want someone who likes and is comfortable with kids of different ages but also is able to help us create a calm and respectful atmosphere at the Library. We are looking for a team-oriented helper who understands the importance of the library and this community. The best librarians are reliable, dedicated, detail-oriented, and discreet, so we are hoping to find someone who has these qualities.  We are an equal opportunity employer.
